Chair of the Sustainability and Net Zero Policy Centre

Peter Bannister
I founded Romilly Life Sciences to help health, tech and pharma organizations implement evidence-led digital product strategy. I am also the co-founder of Migration Biotherapeutics and the inventor on several internationally granted and exploited patents.
Throughout my career, I have commercialised innovative products for surgery, diagnostics and digital treatment pathways in multiple international markets and leading R&D. This has included the commercialization of semiconductor sensors for patient management, microwave radar for mammography (with Agilent and Canon Medical), high voltage electrostatic precipitation for minimally invasive surgery, biologically modified nanotechnology for brain tumour treatment, machine learning for the preventative maintenance of aero jet engines, industrial plant and intensive care patients as well as LLMs for the detection and triage of rare diseases.
Policy Manager for the Sustainability and Net Zero Policy Centre

James Bamborough
Before the IET, I was the Policy and Parliamentary Advisor at EngineeringUK. In this role, I was engaged in crucial policy outputs ranging from Net Zero skills needs to apprenticeship reform, delivered recommendations and highlighted critical narratives impacting post-16 vocational routes into engineering. I also managed the Public Affairs work for EngineeringUK in Parliament and was vital to putting the engineering sector on the agenda across departments.
Before EngineeringUK, I was an advisor to the Shadow Industrial Strategy, Science and Innovation Minister, advising both the Shadow BEIS and DCMS departments. My work covered Labour’s response to the vaccine roll-out, UK involvement in the EU’s Horizon Programme, developing Labour’s Green Economic Recovery plan, and leading the Opposition response to the creation of the Advanced Research and Innovation Agency Bill, the Online Safety Act, and the Telecommunications Security Bill.
